ABOUT AUSAIL
PATHFINDER MARINE GROUP
In 2007 The
Ausail Marine Group and Pathfinder Marine merged to form a
new entity called The Ausail Pathfinder Marine Group.
The merger
involved two of Australia’s longest serving marine
brokerages and brought with it over 80 Years of quality
marine assurance and sales.
The merger
brings together well-known personalities, Richard Pym, who
is the Vice President of the Boating Industry Association,
of NSW and Norm Ambrose who has owned Catalina Australia
and the Ausail Marine Group for the past twenty-seven
years.
The new
Ausail Pathfinder Marine Group combines power and sail
with the following brands represented by the group
Catalina, C&C Yachts, Tartan Yachts, Cabo Rico Yachts,
ETAP Yachts, Albin Power Boats, Marquis Luxury Motor
Yachts, Carver Motor Yachts and Doral Sports Cruisers and
Yachts.
Ausail
Pathfinder Marine Group have “On Water Living Display
Centers” at The Catalina Anchorage, Sanctuary Cove Marina,
Gold Coast and have distribution with associated dealers
in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart and Newcastle.
The new
groups mission statement is customer service and assurance
through modern and well-appointed “On Water” offices and
marinas. The group in its first year of operation received
the Doral International Award for 2007 “Top Dealer”, and
the Carver International Award Service Award, principally
for the level of after sales service and professionalism
offered by the group.

Ausail Marine Group
Norman
and his wife Kerrin teamed together to build a successful
establishment incorporating the sale of new Catalina
Yachts, with a busy yacht charter company that specializes
in luxury chartering on board a fleet of Catalina Yachts
called Ausail Yacht Charters. Norman has won many awards
over the years including the International Catalina
Million Dollar Award for Yacht Sales. He has also been a
board member with the NSW Boating Industry, a committee
member and Chairman of the Marine Brokers Association, and
has attained his Marine Brokers Association Accreditation
a certification that is exclusive to only 15 members
Australia-wide.
Kerrin
has been the backbone of Catalina Australia and Ausail for
over 14 years. Kerrin’s marketing and business strategies
have complimented Norm’s sales experience and knowledge of
sailing. Together their wealth of knowledge has seen the
business grow into a well-respected company. In 1995
Kerrin created Ausail Yacht Charters to compliment new
sales of Catalina Yachts. Within a few years the business
was thriving with a 20-yacht fleet and a booming sailing
school. Kerrin continues to support Ausail Pathfinder
Marine Group working with Norm to head the Queensland
expansion and sales team.
History
Pathfinder Marine Group
The
Pathfinder marine Group was founded in 1951 by R.E (Dick)
Pym IV, great grandson of Commander R.E Pym 1 Royal Navy.
Commander Pym was awarded the Gold Medallion for Bravery
(fore-runner of the Victoria Cross) in the rescue of the
crew from a vessel sunk in heavy seas at the mouth of the
River Tess in North East England.
Originally
Pathfinder mainly concentrated on the manufacture and
sales of Caravans and RV’s with marine as an adjunct.
There manufacturing and sales facility was located on
Sydney’s Northern Suburbs.
Dick Pym
gradually moved more into the marine industry selling new
and pre-loved boats and outboard motors. In 1973
Pathfinder Marine moved to Parramatta Road, Homebush,
where Dick was joined by his son R.E. (Richard) Pym V and
continued to sell boats, caravans and RV’s.
Dick Pym
with Peter Hunt from Hunt’s Marine was the first organizer
of the Sydney Boat Show, in the early 1960’s. In 1995 the
Homebush site was sold, Dick retired and Pathfinder Marine
moved to Clontarf Marina and then Ferguson’s Boatshed
Marina at The Spit Bridge.
Richard Pym
the V has been a board member of the BIA for over 10 years
and is currently Vice President of the BIA. Richard is
highly regarded in the marine industry for the
contribution he has made to recreational boating in
Australia and is the recipient of numerous industry
awards.
James Mark
Anthony a Sydney-Hobart winning skipper/navigator
(Abracadabra) joined Pathfinder Marine in 2001. James a
multi-award winning television producer including a Logie
Award has over 30 years experience television ownership,
management, sales and marketing and production and brought
with him expertise in customer qualitative research and
marketing. Combined with Richard’s considerable experience
and knowledge of the boating industry, they forged a
formidable team in customer boating assurance, boat sales
and service.
James is
also an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of
Marketing, a committee member of the BIA Marine Brokers
Association and has also attained his Marine Brokers
Association Brokers accreditation.
